Kick Back and Relax

It’s the summer, the sun is shining and I’ve made a conscious decision to relax this year. I don’t know about you, but all too often I find that I look back and realise that I’ve spent the summer juggling between work, home life and other commitments.

It’s great to have enough work flowing through to keep me busy (and let’s admit it…pay the bills), but as my daughter grows older I’ve come to realise that summer is important for family time. So this year I’m taking a little break. Not a “fly away to exotic places and sit on a beach” break (although that would be lovely), but a “kick back and just relax” break, away from work.

Salaried professionals take holidays so why not the self-employed? It’s also important to preserve sanity and keep that work/life balance fresh.

So for the next few weeks I will be not writing a blog post and I will be staying away from everything work related apart from emails – if clients contact me I will still talk to them, but no new work will be taken on while I’m on my break.

I know many independent professionals believe you have to keep plugging on through in case you are forgotten… but I very much doubt that taking two or three weeks out will impact much on the world at large. Heck, it may even be beneficial as I shall return refreshed and invigorated.

So for the next few weeks I shall be relaxing, hopefully enjoying some sunshine (time to top up that old vitamin D), wearing all the pairs of sandals I have bought in anticipation of that sunshine (ok, now it will probably rain), catching up with family and just generally chilling out.

So have a fun summer… I’ll see you in a few weeks!

chill out time

  1. You are probably gearing up to start again. Hope you are refreshed, relaxed and eager to start again….and that the feeling doesn’t subside too fast.

    • After a lovely few weeks off I’m ready and raring to go.

When the feeling subsides I’ll do something to recharge..its the only way ๐Ÿ˜‰
